Last week, my girlfriend flew to Turkey to see family.
I’m joining her in a couple weeks. But until then, I’ll be playing basketball, writing a ton, and reading even more.
Speaking of which:
Yesterday, I saw a short film I really liked. So, I thought I’d share it with you.
It’s called:
The God Man
It’s a 9.5-minute film about…
“An interview of Jonah Weisman, the man who discovered the entity “The God Man” drifting through space.
All the credit goes to:
Andrew Foerster: Director, Art, Writing, Animation, Voice of Jonah
Jason Stamatyades: Music and SFX
Trevor Henderson: God Man Design
Lily Chiao: Jonah Lip Sync
Pazit Cahlon: Interviewer Voice
Special thanks to David Lunney, Elinor Gates and NASA image and Video Library.
Listen to the original score at this link.”Synopsis from Andrew Foerster’s website.
Here’s what I liked about it:
It moved me.
It’s a great example of showing a story through telling.
It’s the kind of story I want to write, one that takes a few minutes to consume, but stays with you for a lifetime. Bizarre. Unbelievably imaginative. Yet incredibly familiar. And deeply human.
Have a watch.
Maybe a couple.
Note your thoughts and feelings as the story unfolds. Next week, you and I will discuss them in the chat, or maybe comments of this post.
Probably both.
See you there?
Jake
P.S
I’m thinking about doing this more often.
Meaning:
Once a week, I send you a story that moved me. We can call it Move by Example, or something. (Yes, I spent about 30 seconds on that name. Yes, I’m open to your suggestions.) Regardless, I’m thinking it’s an ongoing series of hand-selected stories, delivered straight to your inbox.
Every. Week.
(Because most content recommendations are based on data and algorithms)
The following week, we’ll discuss each story and get to the heart of why it moved us so that we can use (or avoid) the same techniques in our own style, in our own work. All while building a curated collection of inspiration to pull from whenever we need a spark.
Thoughts?
Talk soon,
Jake
Thank you for the perfect video to start my morning. Excited to hear more of your thoughts on it.
I really like this idea Jake!
