Welcome to "Write to Move People" by Jake Varrone
A (mostly) free newsletter that will show you how to write to move people (and yourself) forward.
Hey there,
Welcome to my newsletter: Write to Move People
It’s a (mostly) free newsletter where I share stories I’ve written, books I’ve loved, and everything I’ve ever learned about writing.
Mainly:
Persuasive writing
Informative writing
And creative writing
Every week you get:
Writing tips
Short stories
And book reviews
Every month you get:
An actionable writing guide
A longer (but still short) story
And an in-depth analysis of a great writer’s writing
Some of you will get feedback on your writing if you send it to me.
And you’ll receive exclusive updates and samples of my debut novel: The Dust.
Why am I doing this?
Because during my 9-year career in copywriting and creative directing, I’ve learned that writing is one of the most accessible and powerful ways to move people.
What do I mean by “move people”?
Evoking emotion
Inspiring action
Changing perspectives
And making an impact beyond “informing” and “entertaining.”
Not many people know writing can do that.
They also don’t know that, when they write really well, it can move them, too:
It can make them more money
It can make them more creative
It can make them more influential
And it can make them more mentally fit.
(I’m sure you can think of more.)
Who am I?
Write to Move People is written by Jake Varrone.
I’m a copywriter. Fiction writer. And associate creative director (copy and concept) at Vivaldi NYC. I’ve written creative and direct-response copy for 50+ brands. I post every day about writing to move people on Quora, LinkedIn, X, Medium, and now Substack.
I’ve written dozens of short stories.
And I’m writing my debut novel: The Dust.
Oh, before I forget…
This newsletter is not just for writers.
It’s for anyone who wants to transform their writing into a superpower. That includes anyone who wants to:
Get more recognition at work.
Sell more products and services.
Turn their story ideas into published books.
Make more friends.
Defeat their anxiety.
Do, well, anything.
(Again, I’m sure you can think of more.)
The point is, there are so many reasons to write. So many ways to move people—and yourself—forward.
I’m here to show you how.
And the best part about this newsletter?
I have, like, no subscribers.
That means more attention on you. More attention on the writing you want to read. All you have to do is tell me.
Okay, now I’m rambling.
Let’s do this again sometime.
Never miss a story, never miss a tip.
Every post I write is sent directly to your inbox. For a spam-free, ad-free reading experience, plus audio and community features, get the Substack app.
